The
Community Farm Store Staff:
Deanna:

DEANNA: I became a vegetarian at the age of eight, because of my
love of animals, which lead to a long and committed study of alternative
health treatments and food (although I am no
longer a vegetarian). The birth of my son Darcy, almost 22 years,
ago propelled me into even more in-depth study; as I wanted to provide
him with the very best. As it turned out, he had a sensitivity to wheat and
dairy so the door to alternative health was opened even wider. Once you
open that door, I think there is no turning back. It was no easy task back
then finding alternative foods -- even in Southern California which is
known to be progressive. When my daughter was born, 11 years ago, I
was fully committed to providing her the best food possible. This led to
my movement towards organic and sustainable agriculture and, in so doing,
I have met many like minded people and have made the greatest of
friends. When I moved to the valley, I was happy to discover the Community
Farm Store in Glenora. It was exciting to see the store make the big
move downtown. I knew as a shopper I was doing my part and participating
in an important cause but now, as one of the staff I enjoy the chance
to share and serve those in the community that are either providing their children with more natural
choices or just simply wanting the best. I have been with the store almost four years now and according
to Cindy and Nicolette, we are all going still going to be there when we are granny’s! We’ll see!
